HealthEx expands patient access to MEDITECH health records
New connectivity broadens HealthEx’s nationwide reach for patient-directed records access under TEFCA

SAN FRANCISCO – April 9, 2026 – HealthEx today announced that patients can now securely access and share their medical records from hospitals and practices that use MEDITECH, one of the most widely deployed electronic health record (EHR) systems in the U.S. Leveraging Individual Access Services (IAS) under the federal TEFCA framework, HealthEx gives individuals a simple, trusted way to retrieve MEDITECH records in real time and bring together lab results, imaging, medications, allergies, and visit summaries in one secure place, at the moments that matter. Now consumers have an easier way to share records with the payers, providers, digital health apps, and AI agents they choose, in a secure, consented and transparent manner.
“Patients benefit from immediate, secure access to their own information - no portal passwords, no delays, and no more manual requests,” said Priyanka Agarwal, M.D., MBA, CEO and co-founder of HealthEx. “With MEDITECH records now live on our platform, we can deliver that experience today and connect a patient’s comprehensive health history to providers, payers, apps, or AI agents of their choosing.”
“MEDITECH has championed interoperability that serves clinicians and patients for more than five decades,” said Senior Director of Interoperability at MEDITECH. “HealthEx extends that commitment directly to individuals, giving them a secure, immediate path to their MEDITECH records. Patients can access and share their health history at scale, on their own terms. That's the kind of healthcare system everyone should be building.”
Putting patients in control
HealthEx removes the barrier for individuals in juggling multiple patient portals, waiting on faxed records, or showing up to an appointment without their comprehensive health history. HealthEx users can bring together their MEDITECH records with other major EHR systems on the platform, simplifying a process that has historically been slow, fragmented, and opaque.
Now individuals have a single on-ramp to their comprehensive health history. They verify their identity, grant consent, and retrieve their records across providers, all in minutes. Every action stays transparent, auditable, and revocable at any time.
Expanding the national network
HealthEx retrieves records through TEFCA’s national interoperability framework, which establishes trusted, secure exchange between Qualified Health Information Networks (QHINs) and participating organizations. Connectivity through QHINs Health Gorilla and MedAllies opens a broader set of clinical data sources for HealthEx, reaching a significantly larger number of MEDITECH sites nationwide.
The connection reinforces the promise of TEFCA: a shared national framework where organizations exchange data under common rules, and individuals can access and share their records to drive their health journey. Once patients consolidate their health history with HealthEx, they can share it with any trusted third party, from a new specialist at the first visit to an AI-powered health app delivering personalized insights. That combination of access and downstream connectivity turns a static record into an active tool for better care decisions.
With MEDITECH data accessible, HealthEx continues to extend its reach across the country’s largest EHR platforms, moving closer to a future where patient-directed health data access is faster, simpler, and available nationwide.
