What is HealthEx?
HealthEx is a health data platform that lets you bring together your medical records from different healthcare providers and connect them securely with the tools and services you choose, including AI assistants, chatbots, and apps.
When you connect your health records to an AI tool through HealthEx, you unlock:
A plain-language summary of your medical history
Clear explanations of your lab results and what they mean for your health
Smarter, more informed questions before your next appointment
Personalized insights that help you make better decisions every day
You stay in control throughout. HealthEx never shares your data without your explicit consent, and you can update or remove your information at any time.
Before you begin
To connect your health records, you'll need:
AI tool account
You'll start the process from within the tool you want to connect to.
HealthEx account
If you don't have one yet, you'll create one as part of the setup process.
Government ID
You can optionally use CLEAR to locate your records and speed up the process.
Portal logins
You may be asked to log into your provider's patient portal to retrieve records.
How it works
The connection process starts from inside the AI tool you're using. Each app or chatbot has its own way of initiating this. Look for options like "Connect health records," "Add health data," or similar in your tool’s settings or onboarding.
HealthEx will guide you through the following steps. This will typically take 5-10 minute.

Create or log in to your HealthEx account, and choose how to find your records
If you're new to HealthEx, you'll create a free account. If you've used HealthEx before, simply log in. Your HealthEx account is where your health data is securely stored and managed.
Next, you'll choose how you want HealthEx to locate your records.
Option A: Automatically find records using identity verification (recommended)
HealthEx uses CLEAR, a secure identity verification service, to help locate your health records automatically. CLEAR is free to use with HealthEx.
You can verify your identity with CLEAR in one of two ways:
By signing in to HealthEx with an existing or new CLEAR account
By completing identity verification with CLEAR after signing in to HealthEx using a social login method
CLEAR uses your government-issued ID and a selfie to verify your identity. Once verified, HealthEx can search for your records across participating providers, without requiring you to search for each provider individually.
What to expect:
You'll take a photo of your government-issued ID (such as a driver's license or passport)
You'll take a selfie so CLEAR can confirm it matches your ID
This information is used only to verify your identity and locate your records. It is never shared with the AI tool you're connecting to
Note: CLEAR verification doesn't always succeed the first time. Common reasons include lighting issues during the selfie, an expired or damaged ID, or names that don't exactly match your records. If you run into trouble, see the CLEAR section below or contact us at support@healthex.io.
Option B: Manually connect your providers
If you prefer not to verify with CLEAR, you can continue by signing in to HealthEx using a social login method and connect your healthcare providers manually later.

Give consent
You'll be shown exactly what data the AI tool is requesting access to and how it will be used. You must actively consent before any data is connected.
You’ll also have the opportunity to review HealthEx’s privacy policy and terms of service.

Connect records
This is where HealthEx locates and pulls in your records from your healthcare providers.
If you completed identity verification: HealthEx will automatically begin searching for your records. This usually takes 1–2 minutes. Once records are found, you may be asked to sign in to your providers’ patient portals to authorize access.
If you skipped identity verification: You can search for your healthcare providers manually and connect them one at a time.
You can always search for specific hospitals or health systems later to add additional records and fill in any gaps.
Tip: If automatic record retrieval doesn’t find all of your records, it may be because the demographic information used during identity verification—such as your name, date of birth, address, phone number, or email address—does not match what your providers have on file. Confirm your information is up to date with your healthcare providers, or contact support@healthex.io for help.
Keeping your records up-to-date
HealthEx retrieves your records at a point in time. If you’ve had new appointments, test results, or added a new provider, you’ll want to update and share your most recent records.
To update your records:
Log in to your HealthEx account at app.healthex.io, or update directly within your AI tool. Check their help resources (guide, FAQ, or support docs) for details on how to update your records within their tool.
Find the AI tool you’re connected to and click “Share your most recent records”
Automatically update your new records from your previously connected health records or find and add new providers
Managing your data and consent
You're in control of your data at all times. From your HealthEx account, you can:
Disconnect a specific AI assistant, chatbot, or app
If you want to stop sharing your health data with a particular AI tool, you can withdraw your consent without affecting your HealthEx account or any other connections. Your data will no longer be accessible to that tool. To manage your connections, log in at app.healthex.io.
Delete your HealthEx account
If you want to remove all your data from HealthEx entirely, you can delete your account. This removes your health records from HealthEx and disconnects all AI tools at once.
To delete your account, log in at app.healthex.io and go to manage your profile.
