SAN FRANCISCO – MAY 20, 2026 – HealthEx today announced its partnership with 23andMe to enable consumers to connect their clinical health records directly to their 23andMe account. Through HealthEx, individuals can verify their identity and consent to securely share their comprehensive health history, including diagnoses, lab results, medications, and care history, with 23andMe. Now consumers can pair real-world clinical data with their genetic profile for a more complete picture of their health.

Connecting genetics to clinical reality

Genetic testing can reveal predispositions, while clinical records show an individual’s actual health history. Today, these two datasets live in separate silos, leaving consumers without a way to see how their genetic predispositions connect to their health experience. 

Together, HealthEx and 23andMe are helping individuals bring their full clinical history into the 23andMe platform and their genetic data. The integration opens a path for 23andMe to enrich its analytics and research capabilities with real-world clinical context, supporting a more comprehensive view of how genetic predispositions manifest across a person’s actual health history.

The partnership comes as CMS accelerates its interoperability agenda, building toward a patient-centric health data ecosystem where individuals can access and share their records across the platforms they trust. HealthEx’s infrastructure, built on TEFCA Individual Access Services and FHIR standards, enables consumer-directed data sharing at scale.

Setup and Availability

Setup will take minutes. Individuals verify their identity and grant permission for 23andMe to access their health history, with full transparency and the ability to revoke access at any time. Users decide what to share, with whom, and when – consistent with HealthEx’s consumer-first data model and 23andMe’s longstanding privacy commitments. 

For consumers who already use the HealthEx to connect their records to other platforms, adding 23andMe requires no additional setup. Their digital health wallet extends to every new platform they choose to trust.

New consumer-facing capabilities are planned for availability this summer. 23andMe users will initially be able to connect their clinical records to their genetic profile to surface richer, more personalized health insights. Further integrations will provide consumers a more complete health picture that reflects not just what their genome says but their full clinical history.
