Eight Sleep Introduces Biological Age In Collaboration With Bryan Johnson’s Immortals, Turning Nightly Biometric Data Into a View of Longevity

The new feature combines continuous biometric data captured by the Pod, with connected fitness and health data shared via HealthEx to show how their bodies are aging over time.

NEW YORK, September 3, 2026 – Eight Sleep, the leading sleep fitness company, today introduced Biological Age, a new feature developed in collaboration with Bryan Johnson, founder of Immortals and one of the world’s most prominent voices in longevity.

Biological Age gives people an evolving view of how their bodies are aging by analyzing health data collected continuously over time. It starts with nightly biometric data captured automatically by the Eight Sleep Pod, the company’s intelligent sleep system that regulates bed temperature while tracking sleep and physiological signals without requiring a wearable.

People can also connect fitness trackers, such as Apple Health, and, starting today, a group of U.S. beta members can securely link medical records via HealthEx, a platform that lets people access, share, manage and bring their comprehensive health records to the Eight Sleep platform.

The result is a Biological Age that is personal to each individual, updates every week, and helps people understand not only where they are today, but how their trajectory is changing over time.

Turning the bed into a platform for continuous health intelligence has been part of Eight Sleep’s long-term vision from the beginning. Biological Age marks another major step toward that future: transforming data collected effortlessly every night into a clearer understanding of long-term health.

From data captured during sleep to a deeper understanding of health

Unlike a health test taken once or twice a year, the Pod measures the body every night.

Sensors built directly into the sleep system track physiological signals including heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, sleep stages, and sleep duration while a person sleeps. There is nothing additional to wear, charge, or remember.

People can also connect fitness trackers, including Apple Health, to add exercise and activity into the picture. Where the Pod captures what happens during sleep, this layer reflects what happens during the day, workouts, movement, and exertion, giving Biological Age a fuller sense of how someone's daily choices are showing up in their aging. In the U.S., they can also use HealthEx to securely connect their medical records across all the places where they have received care, adding personal health information including conditions, medications, lab results, and more. Importantly, members connect their health data via HealthEx in a transparent, opt-in, and consented manner, with the ability to turn off the connection at any time.

Together, these sources create a longitudinal view of health that becomes richer over time: nightly sleep and recovery signals, daily activity, and broader clinical context in one system.

“Most people know the Pod for its ability to automatically cool and heat their bed to improve sleep,” said Matteo Franceschetti, CEO and co-founder of Eight Sleep. “But every night, the same system is also measuring how their body is functioning. Biological Age turns that continuous data into something people can understand and act on. You simply go to sleep, and over time you build an evolving picture of your health and how the choices you make may influence your longevity.”

Built on one of the first large-scale health foundation models

Biological Age was developed through a collaboration between Eight Sleep and Immortals, Bryan Johnson’s health platform focused on making longevity more accessible.

"I track thousands of biomarkers to determine my speed of aging,” said Bryan Johnson, “The Pod has been helping me gather that data for years. It’s convenient that all you have to do to get the data is sleep in comfort. I think Eight Sleep customers will love the Biological Age because it can help them build intuition around how their lifestyle choices affect their health."

Eight Sleep has captured more than 1 billion hours of biometric data through the Pod, creating one of the largest longitudinal datasets on human sleep and physiology. To develop Biological Age specifically, Eight Sleep trained a new health foundation model on a focused dataset spanning more than 100,000 participants and 2.7 million hours of biometric data, selected to understand how physiological patterns relate to aging over time.

Rather than evaluating everyone against a single definition of what is healthy, Biological Age considers an individual’s own history and baseline alongside patterns from people of similar age and gender and insights from Eight Sleep’s broader dataset.

A view of how the body is aging

Biological Age centers on two related measurements:

  • Speed of Aging shows the estimated pace at which the body is aging relative to calendar time. A score below 1.0x indicates a slower pace of aging, while a score above 1.0x indicates a faster pace.

  • Biological Age translates that pace into an age that can be compared with a person’s chronological age.

Both update every seven days as Eight Sleep collects more data.

The Eight Sleep app also shows the factors influencing the result, including sleep, recovery, cardiovascular, respiratory, and activity signals. By tracking these measurements continuously, people can see how their Biological Age changes alongside their sleep, recovery, and behavior over time.

Biological Age is therefore not intended to be a one-time score. It is designed to evolve with the person.

Availability

Biological Age is available to Eight Sleep members worldwide with an active membership and a Pod 4 or later generation. Users must download the latest version of the Eight Sleep app on iOS or Android.

In China, Biological Age will be available beginning in Fall 2026. The HealthEx medical-record integration begins rolling out today to a group of beta members in the United States, with broader availability to follow.

The Pod is not a medical device. Biological Age and Health Check are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Users should consult a qualified healthcare provider regarding medical concerns.

About Bryan Johnson

Bryan Johnson is the world’s most measured human. He believes that we are the first generation who won’t die. At 48, he is top 2% for muscle mass and body composition among all men; top 1% for bone mineral density, fertility, and sexual function; and vascular function equivalent to a man in his late 20s. His glycemic control ranks in the 99th percentile against adults aged 18 to 25.

He was the founder of Braintree Venmo which was acquired for $800 million. He is the founder of Blueprint and Immortals. Johnson goes to bed at 8 pm and wakes up at 4 am.
